Lancaster is located in Lancashire and has a population of over 130,000. Lancaster gained its first charter in 1193 as a market town and borough, and was given the status of a city in 1937. 

Lancaster has many places of historic interest, including the Maritime Museum, the Music Room and the City Museum.

Lancaster is located on the West Coast Main Line which brings frequent Intercity Services from London Euston and Glasgow. There are regular services from Lancaster to the rest of the district.
