About Goldsmith College
Specialising in the teaching of the humanities, social sciences, education,
design and the arts, Goldsmiths is the leading institution for creative
research in Britain. No other university has a comparable range of
disciplines at such a high level of national and international excellence,
or such an illustrious alumni operating within the arts.
In the last one hundred years, Goldsmiths has developed dramatically. The
former Technical and Recreative Institute, founded by the Worshipful Company
of Goldsmiths in a Royal Naval School in 1891, is now a major College of the
University of London, with over 8,000 students and ten major buildings.
These include the recently completed Ben Pimlott Building, and the original
Royal Naval School, which remains a key building on the College's New Cross
campus.
